The tobacco is the only consumer product that, used to pleasure, kills half of its regular customers. Many smokers despite his desire to stop smoking failed and think they do not have enough willingness to do so. Tobacco, today is known, produces addiction. Its cause is nicotine. The addicted smoker, feels the compulsive need to self-administer drugs that exceeds the desire to avoid it. Being forbidden to smoke for a few hours, deteriorates physical and mental capacities and therefore their performance. Only medical treatment tailored to each individual can help overcome the compulsion to smoke preventing symptoms of withdrawal.

There is no therapeutic miracle. The treatment of addiction to tobacco allows effective therapeutic rational medical actions that take into account individual gestual, physically and mentally factors.

We must know that:
It is estimated that tobacco produced in the world more than 2 million deaths in 1990, rising to 4 million in 1998. In 2020, tobacco will become the most important problem for individual health, it is estimated to cause 8.4 million deaths annually.
This increase will not be the same in all regions, since the developed countries will have an increase of 50% from 1.6 to 2.4 million, while in Asia (India, China, other countries and Islands), it will be almost four times, from 1.1 million in 1990 to an estimated 4.2 million in 2020. In our country, mortality from diseases associated with smoking reaches 20% of all deaths annually (between 38,000 and 49,000).

These figures turn to smoking in one of the leading causes of morbidity and premature mortality that can be prevented and treated.

A cigarette is the only consumer product that, used to pleasure, kills half of its regular customers.

But also …

When discussing smoking by age it is noteworthy that the highest consumption groups have moved toward minors. In 1971, the highest proportion of smokers were between 25 and 39 years while in 1988, most were between 18-24 years old. In buenos Aires data shows that every 100 teenagers, 13 and 15 consume tobacco.
